Celebrations and aspirations – 21 September 2017

The MHA celebrated its tenth anniversary at a special annual event held at the Jubilee Conference Centre in Nottingham On Thursday 21 September.

The event proved to be a great success – providing a retrospective on the first ten years of the MHA as well as featuring a host of speakers including representatives of NEC, Department of Transport, Midlands Connect and a keynote speech from Simon Neilson, President of ADEPT.

The morning session involved an introduction from Phil Crossland, marking his last MHA event before retirement. Phil was followed by the MHA’s own Peter Barclay and Jason Clarke of Waterman Aspen. The pair highlighted the many successes during the history of PSP, from 3CAP to PSP3. Rob Gerrard of NEC (find out more about an upcoming free event on NEC for MHA members here) filled the last slot before the event split into two sessions, one session was the Framework Community Board meeting, including John Hooper discussing development of MSF3 (more information here) and the other session featured three speakers: Richard Fenwick from MSIG, Sharon Andrews of NHT and Simon Pinkney from m2i and finally Stewart Corbett.

After lunch, Catherine De Marco from the Department of Transport updated the audience on the DfT’s Transport Infrastructure Skills Strategy a year after launch, Keith Heard of the NAFC discussed National Frameworks – and what a perfect framework looks like before keynote speaker Simon Neilson took to the stage. Simon advised on work being undertaken by ADEPT to form new alliances to support the growth agenda and was followed by Simon Statham of Midlands Connect  – before Peter rounded up proceedings and brought the event to a close for another year!
