MHA+ Skills Community

MHA+ Skills Community includes framework suppliers, member authorities, consultants and professional bodies working together to address the need for skills across the industry.

Launched in October 2010 as a citb MHA Skills Academy, it changed and extended its remit (in 2025) to build capacity and capability for MHA+ skills and workforce development – reinforcing the culture of collaboration between all MHA+ partners.

The MHA+ skills and development community has a wide ranging remit including:

  1. A Learning Management System (LMS) – including construction/highways learning and development; leadership and managerial level learning, training and development opportunities.
  2. Engagement – We support community and school based projects provided by MHA+ Framework contractors – as part of commitment to support social value and encouraging construction as a positive career option.
  3. Learning, training and development, in conjunction with partners – Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation (CIHT), Institute of Asset Management (IAM) and the Transport Planning Society (TPS)
  4. STEM (Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Ambassador support

Framework suppliers, MHA+ member authorities, professional services consultants and professional bodies are working together developing training and skills development opportunities for their staff, the supply chain and the local community. We have a MHA+ learning and development policy – to ensure equity and delivery efficiencies in provision
