Well-Managed Highway Infrastructure Code of Practice – consultation now closed.

The consultation for the updated Well-Managed Highway Infrastructure Code of Practice is now closed. We encouraged all MHA+ members and practitioners to share their feedback before the extended closing date of Sunday 14 June 2026.

First published in 2016, the Code has been a cornerstone of highway asset management across the UK for nearly a decade. It established a risk-based approach to managing highway infrastructure that has helped local authorities balance national consistency with the flexibility needed to reflect local circumstances.

Following the AtkinsRéalis presentation to MHA+ members on 27 April 2026, a structured review has been underway since summer 2025 to ensure the Code continues to reflect current policy, funding pressures, and the public expectations placed on highway networks today.
